and what this means to the believer.

demons.

how the believer can secure and keep his victory over Satan and his demons.
INTRODUCTION
The
way most believers present the devil or Satan portrays the fact that many have
not really painstakingly explore the Bible position about who he is. He is
often presented in a larger than life picture which often concocts fear and
helplessness to the believer.
The
impression about him is not true from the scripture and that is what this
course is all about to expose.
WHO IS SATAN?
The
account about the creation and fall of Satan or Lucifer as he was then called
are recorded in Eze. 28:11-19 and Isa. 12:12-15.
Satan
who was created Lucifer, “the morning star” by God was an angelic being. He seems
to be one of the leading angels that were also charged with carrying out some
sacred responsibility in heaven.
He
was obsessed by pride which moved him to challenge his maker, God. This led to
his fall from the presence of God and he presently occupies the second heaven
from where he controls the affairs of the earth through demons. 2 Cor. 4:4;
Eph. 2:2.
It
is also instructive to know that God is the source of Satan’s power. It was God
who gave him the power he has and therefore, he is subjected to God. Col.
1:15-17; 2:10; John 1:1, 18; 14:8
Satan
means “adversary” in Greek. He is called “Satanas” he is the
adversary of God. Christ and the people of God. Matt. 4:10; 12:26; Mk. 1:13;
3:23 & 26, Luke 22:31; Acts 5:3; Rom. 16:20; 1 Cor. 5:5; 7:5; 2 Cor. 2:11;
11:14; 12:7
·
He accuses man to God. Job
1:6-11; 2:1-5; Rev. 12:9-10
·
He accuses God to man. Gen. 3:1-4
·
He afflicts men with physical
suffering. Acts 10:38
·
He is sinful. 1 John 3:8
·
Instigate man to sin. Gen. 3:1ff
·
Tempt man to do evil. Eph. 4:27;
6:11
He
is also known as Devil, “diabolos” in Greek which means “accuser”
a slanderer to accuse, to malign. This refers to only Satan.
THE SATANIC STRUCTURE
The
devil is not the opposite of God rather he is a creature of God. Therefore,
there exists no basis for comparing him with God.
There
exist three heavens. The first being the atmospheric heaven the abode of the
sun, moon, star e.t.c. this is the heaven that the human eyes can appreciate.
Secondly,
the second heaven is the abode of Satan and some of the angels that fell from
heaven with him. This heaven can be said to be headquarter of Satan. 2 Cor.
4:4; Eph. 2:2. Satan is ruling an evil spiritual kingdom, the demons and those
who are against Christ.
This
kingdom is so organized in its structures and operations that one is tempted to
think or believe that the devil is all-powerful.
The
structure of his kingdom is explained in Eph. 6:12cf. Col. 1:16
·
Principalities of evil rulers
·
Powers of authorities of the
unseen world
·
The rulers of the darkness of
this world (age) or those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world
·
Spiritual host of wickedness in
the heavenly places or wicked spirits in the heavenly realm
SPIRITUAL LIMITATIONS
·
He is not omniscient, all
knowing. Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7
·
He is not omnipotent, all
powerful. Job 1:10
·
He is not omnipresent, being
everywhere at the same time. Job 1:7; 1 Peter 5:8
DEMONS
Demon
which is called “daimon” in Greek denotes evil spirit. These demons are fallen
angels that fell with Satan. They were those angels that ganged up with Lucifer
in heaven to rebel against God in heaven.
These
evil spirits are various types, shape and vary in position and authority. They
can be found in places like, cemeteries, rivers or seas, uncompleted buildings,
forests, big trees, even in the air.
They
are Satan foot soldiers. Their wicked activities includes

wickedness. Matt. 12:45

recognized Christ as Lord and as their future judge. Matt. 8:29; Luke 4:41
o Christ
uses his own power to cast them out. Mk. 5:1
